INTRODUCTION TO ART
Introduction to art is a year-long coursed designed to provide students a broad range of artistic experiences including art production, criticism, creative problem solving, as well as exposure to images, artifacts, and cultures from around the world. Students will learn about the elements and principles of design and work in a variety of media, while also developing skills and their own styles. Students will be encouraged to infuse their own interests and lives into their art making. This course is a pre-requisite for all other art courses at Buckfield Jr./Sr. High School.
Identity Still Life Drawings
Students developed compositions featuring objects that have personal meaning drawn from life.
CULTURAL PINCH POTS
& SLAB BOWL SERIES
Students created a pinch pot series with decoration based on a world culture. Also, they created two draped slab pieces using the sgraffito technique.
Students chose a high-order thinking concept. Drawing from the work of Robert Indiana, students use both text and imagery to communicate an idea.
WORD UP. ART AS COMMUNICATION
Atmospheric Pastel Drawings
Students chose an image with an expressive sky that captures a particular emotion or mood, or a combination of multiple images and created compositions using chalk pastel. Color mixing and matching were a skills at the forefront of this assignment.
